To the editor: Governor Gavin Newsom returned to good graces with me, despite his recent foray into the world of Podcast Maga (“Bucking Trump Prices, California, will enter the world trade independently, says Newsom,»April 4). His decision to publicly seek economic partnerships with other nations in the middle of the President's order to impose destructive prices and not provoked on all nations, friends or enemies, is a welcome sign of showing a spine.
California’s economy, like a large part of the nation, depends deeply on international trade and trade, it is therefore encouraging that Newson understands the challenges of the moment. In addition to the challenges or limits of certain economic measures sponsored by a state which can be legally or practically prosecuted, Newsom shows us that you do not need to bend the knee to serve your constituencies authentically. The decline is late.

To the publisher: Trump's price fiasco is not the law; It was created by presidential decree. Until and unless the Congress carries out its tariff policy on a national level, I see no reason why the rights of the States – a traditional point of discussion of the GOP – should not apply now to the Golden State.
