To the editor: I could not disagree with the chronicle of George Skelton (“Instead of denigrating other democrats, Newsom must look inwards,“April 7). I listened to Newsom's podcast the other day – every 90 minutes – and I couldn't be more impressed. Newsom engages with the other side, which must be done, especially since the Democrats (of which I am one) become more and more sand on what the voters really want. Everyone to listen to and learn.

To the editor: I appreciate what Newsom is trying to do with his podcast. My father and grandfather were both lawyers who appreciated passionate debates at the dinner table. I remember how, during several of these discussions, one side could start to raise their voice in the argument. At this point, my father would press the Hold button and mentioned that the argument must be made logically, not emotionally. The fact was that, as passionate as one could be on a particular subject, it was better to become better informed and later evoke the argument when you had more ammunition in your belt. The emotional and strong argument has not been tolerated.

To the editor: I am an independent recorded on the left – and a big fan of the Newsom podcast. After the elections in November, I wanted real answers and explanations, not the repetitive and selfish apologies that filled the bubble of the liberal media. So I looked for podcasts, books, sources of information and interviews that presented balanced relationships and analysis on the left and right sides of our political fracture. It is thanks to this search for alternative and more balanced sources of information that I discovered on the podcast “This is Gavin Newsom”, that I find refreshing and informative.
I do not care about the governor's political plans, but I greatly appreciate his desire to ask open questions and surveys, to engage in a civilian discussion and to discuss subjects which are sometimes unfavorable to him personally and / or to the Democratic Party. There is a lot to teach his party to teach these bipartite discussions and others similar, if it is a viable competitor in 2026 and beyond.
