To the editor: The County of Los Angeles has appointed a license Tsar to break the logjam permits to be delivered for the reconstruction of the Eaton fire (“License delivered to Altadena from the fire: zero. The county of the wants to accelerate,»April 8). This extraordinary step was made necessary due to the requirements of the many county departments involved in the authorization of a residence and conflicts between these departments and the codes.
Having effectively admitted that the authorization process is broken and undoubtedly contributing to the County housing crisis, is it not the time that the same solution is instituted for the whole county? Isn't it time for a full-time county allowing the Tsar to rationalize and rationalize the authorization process?
