To the publisher: The last line of the article by Khalil Abushammala (“Out of food and under a constant attack, we, Gazans, die every day”, “ April 29) haunt me. “How did you let it happen?” I don't know.
I know how horrible war is, the anger and pain of the families of the hostages taken by Hamas, as well as the pain of those who live in terror in Gaza. I know the fear of those in the United States, especially young adults, to denounce the war.
I know that even if I personally have the chance to be far from this horrible war, this is more than discouraging and depressing daily. If it is a consolation in Abushammala, many have not forgotten Gaza. We just feel helpless, desperate and frightened.

To the editor: Gaza's tragedy is in front of the world. The innocent people suffer. But missing in the opinion article is the role of Hamas in the perpetuation of tragedy for political ends.
Hamas leaders are expected to embark on exile. Hamas row members should place their arms. The international community should support the traumatized Palestinian people and support their rights to their own homeland as a peaceful neighbor of Israel.
