A closed window crowds braved a cold sky and a kick -off at the end of the evening to watch Lionel MessiA legend of football, play Wednesday evening at the BMO Stadium. But what many fans have returned home is the game of Laftc The product of the Nathan Ordaz Academy, whose second half goal was the difference in the 1-0 victory of Lafc against Inter Miami in the first quarter-final match of the Congacaf Champions Cup with two legs.
The teams will meet next Wednesday in southern Florida with determining aggregate objectives which will pass in the semi-finals. Lafc reached the final of the Concacaf tournament during its first two appearances, making it the only MLS club to play for the title twice this century.
Lafc attracted less than 25,000 handsets for its first two games of the Champions Cup with Colorado and Columbus. It attracted almost as much – 22,207 – for Miami. And many of these fans have become conscientiously risen and raised their phones each time Messi stood above the ball.
But it was the 21 -year -old Ordaz, who played for the LaFC development team last year, who stole the show, lining a low and straight shot from outside the box just inside the nearby post in the 57th minute.
The sequence started with Mark Delgado by sending a pass at the foot of Ordaz, who turned away from the Miami midfielder, Sergio Busquets, and instructed the unmarked striker. Ordaz then fired about 25 meters from the goal and sent a shot in front of defender Maximiliano Falcón and at the back of the net.
Ordaz and Falcón were tangled halfway from the first half of the Chippy game with Ordaz having apparently contacted Falcón's face, sending it to the lawn. But after a long video review, referee Oshane Nation ignored Miami's pleas for a red card and flashed a yellow in Ordaz, allowing him to continue.
Lafc coach Steve Cherundolo also allowed Ordaz to continue rather than shooting him at halftime, and Ordaz rewarded this confidence with the sole goal.
The last time Messi faced the lafc goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, he set three shots in front of him during the Argentina victory on the kick on France during the 2022 World Cup final. This time, Messi spent most of the game for walking on the field, keeping his energy and promoting an injury to a low -rank adductor. He put two shots on the target, a free kick in the 37th minute that Lloris easily saved and a left foot from just outside the box in the 86th minute that Lloris has a hop, who had to rush to his knees to recover the rebound.
Lloris has only made another backup of the night.
Messi had a last chance of five minutes after stoppage, but sent a free kick to left at around 30 meters well above the bar.
The defeat was the first of Miami in 10 games under the new coach Javier Mascherano, his teammate from Messi in four World Cups for Argentina and for 7½ seasons in Barcelona, while for Lafc, the victory was the second in six games.
