The Kremlin announced a complete three-day ceasefire in Ukraine between May 8 and 10, while Russia celebrates the day of victory and the defeat of Nazi Germany during the Second World War.
The truce will start at midnight, local time on May 8 (11 p.m. it's May 7)
The Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered a complete cessation of hostilities for “humanitarian grounds” for victory day, which is marked on May 9.
The announcement comes as US President Donald Trump intensified his efforts to negotiate a peace agreement in the total war in Russia in Ukraine, now in his fourth year.
Meanwhile, Putin refused to accept a complete unconditional ceasefire, binding it to a stop in Western weapons supplies to the mobilization effort of Ukraine and Ukraine.
