Stamford, Connecticut (AP) – The victory of sovereignty in Kentucky Derby on Saturday on average 17.7 million fans on NBC and Peacock, the most public for the race for roses since 1989 and the largest since NBC took care of the rights in 2001.
It was an increase of 6% compared to last year according to Nielsen and Adobe Analytics. The public culminated at 21.8 million from 7 to 7:15 p.m. Sovereignty ran to a 1½ length victory over journalism.

The victory of Sunday Silence in the 1989 derby on average 18.5 million on ABC.
NBC has an average of at least 15 million viewers on all platforms for 10 of the last 12 races of the Kentucky Derby disputed in May. The 2020 race was moved to the first weekend in September due to COVID-19.
