James TaylorThe successes inspire a new stage musical entitled “Fire and Rain”. The singer and songwriter has aligned major talents in the effort. Tracy LettsThe Tony Award and the author winning the Pulitzer Prize of “August: Osage County” and “The Minutes”, created an original story for the show, while Tony Winner David Cromerwhose credits include “The Band's Visit”, is aligned to direct production.
Taylor is the last of a long line of artists to obtain treatment on stage. The recent examples include “MJ: The Musical”, which examined the life and work of Michael Jackson, “Ain't Too proud”, which explored the catalog of temptations, and “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical”. All had Broadway races of different lengths, “MJ” still attracting crowds three years after its opening.
Taylor certainly has a long list of classic songs to use, including “Carolina in My Mind”, “Sweet Baby James”, “Mexico” and the title song “Fire and Rain”. He is also known for his covers of the work of other artists, including “You Got a Friend” by Carole King and “as it is sweet (to be loved by you)”.
“Fire and rain” are described as at the start of development. The producers of the project include Gail Berman, Sam Feldman, Michael Gorfaine and Jimmy Nederlander, who work on the program in association with Frank Marshall and Jere Harris. General management will be supervised by tailor -made theaters.
Letts and Cromer have already worked together on “Bug” and “Man from Nebraska”. Cromer is currently represented this season with the new musical “Dead Outlaw” And the play “Good Night, and Good Luck”, a hot ticket because George Clooney made his Broadway debut.
