Iran denied any involvement in an alleged terrorist conspiracy against the Embassy of Israel in London, following the arrest of five Iranian nationals on Saturday.

Four of the men who were arrested in counter-terrorist raids across England during the weekend are always questioned by the police, who say they were detained as part of a plan suspected of attacking “specific premises”.

Metropolitan police said they couldn't give more details in the middle of a “fast” investigation.

However, British media reports suggest that the planned objective was the Embassy of Israel in central London.

Reacting to allegations, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, said that Iran was in no way involved in the alleged plot.

“Iran, in uncertain terms, categorically rejects any involvement in such actions and confirms that we have not been informed of any allegation via appropriate diplomatic channels,” he wrote on X on Wednesday evening.

He added that Iran would help the United Kingdom an investigation into “credible allegations”.

British Security Minister Dan Jarvis confirmed on Monday that one of the five Iranian men arrested on Saturday had been released in conditions of strict bail.

In a press release shared with Euronews, Dominic Murphy, head of the counter-terrorism command of the metropolitan police, said that the investigation was underway.

“This is an investigation against rapid development terrorism and there are important operational reasons for which we cannot provide new information at the moment,” he said.

“As soon as possible, we will seek to share more details and, in the meantime, we ask the public to stay vigilant and to contact us if you have concerns,” he added.

The force confirmed that the targeted premises were provided with “advice and support”.
