Iran and the United States have concluded a fourth cycle of negotiations on the long-standing dispute of the Tehran nuclear program.
The talks, who were mediated by Oman and therefore held in his capital, Muscat, lasted three hours.
As with the previous three cycles, the negotiations were mediated by the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and the special envoy of the American president Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff.
An American official, who spoke to the news agency after the cover of anonymity, said that the discussions were direct and indirect.
“We are encouraged by today's results and we are delighted with our next meeting, which will happen in the near future,” added the manager.
Iran said that talks have gone indirectly, perhaps on internal political pressures within the Islamic Republic.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the talks were “difficult” but admitted “there was a better understanding now.”
“We are, to a large extent, we move away from general discussions and we have entered into more detailed issues. Of course, this makes negotiations even more difficult,” said Araghchi speaking to the state media on Sunday.
Translections seek to limit Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for economic sanctions imposed by the United States.
Enriched uranium
In March, a United Nations nuclear surveillance dog reported that Iran had accelerated its production of uranium level of close weapons. Iran would have uranium enriched to make a nuclear weapon.
The United States wants to prevent Tehran from developing its stock, but Araghchi insisted that Iran would continue to enrich uranium.
“From our point of view, enrichment (uranium) is something that must absolutely continue, and there is no room for compromises on this subject,” Araghchi told State Media.
“We can consider the limits of its dimensions, its scope, its level and its amount for a certain period to strengthen confidence, as we have done in the agreement, but the principle of enrichment itself is not even negotiable,” he added.
Translections are involved while US President Donald Trump is expected to visit the Middle East this week. The American chief has repeatedly threatened military action against Iran if an agreement is not concluded.
Araghchi confirmed that another series of negotiations had been agreed, although the date and location must always be set.
