In the midst of claims of nepotism, Nurul Izzah confirms the submission for role number 2 in the party of Anwar against Rafizi

In such a scenario, “I think it will be preferable that there is (an interim meeting) between Anwar and Izzah as having a father as Prime Minister, and his daughter would take over, create discomfort for those of the party and through the country,” he added.

Political analyst James Chin, professor of Asian studies at the University of Tasmania, said that with Nurul Izzah, advancing to challenge, Anwar gives ammunition to other political parties and his political opponents.

“Anwar is so obvious, allowing the girl to challenge. Even if Nurul is competent, it is the public perception that counts in politics, especially during the elections. It is a bad look for Anwar,” said Chin.

Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has deflected accusations of nepotism by not allowing his children to take high -level positions at the National Organization of Malays (UMNO) when he was in charge of the party, noted Chin.

“If I were Nurul, I wouldn't take this contest and if I was anwar, I would put a stop,” said Chin. “Doing this will constantly harm your brand.”
