A major shock of horse races occurred on Good Friday, while the 200-1 outsider Heavenly Heather won in Newcastle.
The filly, formed by Tracey Waggott in his stables near Durham, is the longest winner in the history of the British flat race.
Heavenly Heather, climbed by AMIE WAUGH, won the Piles and Handicap mares championships on the day of the final of all time.
The horse had been beaten in all its five previous departures.
“We have always known that she was a very good horse,” said Waggott. “It was just making it quite fit. She is such a tall and heavy mare that she takes as much fit work.”
The owner of the party, Chris Rain, said that Heavenly Heather had been appointed by his mother before his death a year ago.
The most expensive winner in the history of the British race was equinoctial, returned to a starting price of 250-1 during the hedges' victory in Kelso in November 1990.
Heavenly Heather was the seventh 200-1 shot to win on the apartment in Great Britain, with Astapor the last in Hamilton in 2022.
