Greg Millen, a long-standing goalkeeper of the NHL which has passed to a post-jewelry as a popular hockey diffuser, has died. Millen was 67 years old.
The NHL former association announced Millen's death on Monday. Canadian Sports Broadcast Network Sportsnet, for whom Millen worked, confirmed his death. A cause of death has not been announced. According to the NHLAA, Millen's death was “sudden”.
“It is with Heavy Hearts that we share the sudden passage of Greg Millen today,” said the announcement of the NHLAA. … “He was known and loved by everyone in the world of broadcasting! … Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with Greg's family at the moment very difficult.”
Millen's “indelible brand” on hockey
In his declaration marking his death, Sportsnet celebrated Millen's impact on hockey both as a player and broadcaster.
“As a player and broadcaster, Greg left an indelible brand on sport as well as all those who have had the pleasure of knowing and listening to it”, ” Readings of the Sportsnet Declaration. “With his infectious passion for the game, his sharp ideas and his rapid spirit, Greg has been a reliable and familiar voice in the houses of millions of Canadians for more than 30 years.”

Millen played 14 seasons in the NHL for six different teams from 1978 to 1992. He began his career with Pittsburgh's Penguins, then played for the Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, Quebec Nordic and Chicago Blackhawks before playing his last season with the Detroit Red Wings.
In total, Millen played 604 NHL games with the goal with an average of goals and goals and 17 career whitening. He led the Ligue in whitening with six in 1989.
After his retirement, Millen began his broadcasting career covering the Ottawa senators in the first season of the team in 1992-1993. He then made comments in color for the “hockey evening in Canada” of the CBC, then for the NHL on Sportsnet.
According to the NHLAA, Millen covered three Olympic Games, two hockey world cups, 12 Stanley Cup finals and 12 NHL All-Star games as a broadcaster.

Members of the Hockey and Diffusion Community cried Millen to the news of his death.

“Has worked many games with Greg,” Darren Dreger wrote on social networks. “Has learned a lot from him in my first days. The deepest sympathy for his family and friends.”
“Just a terrible news to see today,” Ray Ferraro wrote. “Far too young, condolences to the Millsy family.”
“Horrible Day for all those who worked with Greg,” Eliot Friedman wrote. “I loved hockey and its role.

Millen is survived by his wife and four children, according to the NHLAA.
