To the editor: “Hide?” He is the best columnist Jonah Goldberg can offer to counter the attacks of President Trump against our economy and our constitutional freedoms (“Governor Whitmer's feast should learn from what she has done at the oval office”, “ April 15)? If the Democrats hide, they will finally be blamed, with Trump, for all this destruction. The real and unique option here is to fight. Talk. Get up. To be strong. Introduce oneself. Call your representatives, call the Supreme Court, bring together with your communities to protest. And, in the meantime, do strategies on how and what Democrats can do to provide for needs and win back respect for the American people.

To the publisher: Although I do not agree with Goldberg 80% of the time, its analysis of what is wrong with the Democratic Party is absolutely on the point. Until the party learns of its mistakes from the last elections, playing to death is the only policy it should follow. Leadership should realize that the elitist policy of “We know what is best for you” does not work and to be more centrist is the place where the majority of the electorate are.
