China's first Corgi police dog again attracted public attention – this time by tearing a sausage into service.
Fuzai, a dog and a half, based in a training center for police dogs in Weifang, Shandong province, has built a reputation not only for its skills in bombs, but also for its playful nature, according to local media.
It was discovered just two months by police coach Zhao Qingshuai, who was immediately taken by the curiosity and instincts of the young dog.
Fuzai officially joined the ranks in October 2024 after successfully completing his training in explosive detection, vehicle inspection and obstacle navigation.
Since then, he has participated in security operations, including international events of the Weifang International Kite and community awareness events.
Despite his budding career, Fuzai's trip was not without hiccups. In January, he was disciplined after being surprised to take a nap during homework and to urinate in his food bowl – a behavior which earned him a temporary ban on treats and toys.
Even then, the public was more amused than indignant, the Weifang public security office winning more than 400,000 subscribers.
A corgi with a desire
Now the Corgi has again made the headlines after slipping a grilled sausage of a young girl during an April patrol. Taken on the camera, the moment shows that Fuzai took a bite and walked, leaving the crowd to laugh.
Later, the girl's mother assured the media that her daughter was not kicked and happily finished the rest of the sausage.
Coach Zhao apologized and promised to tighten the food discipline of Fuzai, local media said.
“Fuzai has broken the rule of never taking anything from the public,” said Zhao, promising to improve the control of Fuzai pulses.
However, social media users gathered to defend the Corgi. “With a dog as cute as Fuzai, how could he stay angry?” said a person.
On April 29, Fuzai and her coaches visited the girl's kindergarten, offering sausages, themed gifts and a kite to make amends.
“I hope Fuzai and my daughter will grow in good health and happy. Stay strong, Fuzai,” said the child's mother.
