China sends the team to Myanmar to monitor the ceasefire, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

In recent days, some Junta officials have returned to Lashio, with military vehicles also seen in the city of the North on Tuesday, the Myanmar media reported.

Reuters could not independently verify the information.

“The two parties appreciate and thank China for its constructive role in the safeguarding of peace and stability in northern Myanmar,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun, to a regular press conference.

“In the future, China will continue to advance Kunming peace talks.”

The MNDAA is part of the so-called alliance of Three Brotherhood, a collection of rebel armies that launched an offensive against the military at the end of October 2023, taking control of large areas on the border with China and pushing the junta on the back.

The MNDAA-Junta agreement is distinct from a larger ceasefire than the regional block of 10 members of the Regional Asean of Asia made the delivery of more humanitarian aid to Myanmar, which was ravaged by an earthquake last month which killed more than 3,700 people.
