Channel 5 reports that meteorologist Mark Johnson “is no longer used” at the station

Mark Johnson, Channel 5 meteorologist, is no longer employed by the station.

Cleveland's long-standing meteorologist, Mark Johnson, is no longer “employed in Wews”, Channel 5 reported in the afternoon of May 9.

“News 5 wants to share with our viewers a change in our staff endowment,” wrote the station in a Post of news on its website. “Meteorologist Mark Johnson is no longer used in Wews.”

The brief news did not include reason for separation or nature, but included a declaration by the vice-president and managing director of Wews, Steve Weinstein:

“We want our audience to know that the new 5 and its parent company, Scripps, take the confidence of our audience very seriously by forcing our employees to comply with the highest ethical standards. We cannot provide additional details because it is staff.”

The story has indicated that “the resort's commitment to be the northeast Ohio meteorological team is turning to safety and precision remains firm”.

The station will immediately make a search for the replacement of Johnson.

Johnson joined Channel 5 in November 1993, according to a page on the station's website which has since been withdrawn.

“Mark is a award -winning meteorologist, having received coveted Emmy Awards for his weather forecasts,” said the page. “He was the first Cleveland forecaster with both the approval of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA).”

Johnson has not yet talked about separation. His only article on social networks on May 9 was on Facebook, where he published a photo of a flash behind a tree. Dozens of people commented on the job to wish him good luck.
