Royal Oak, Michigan (AP) – It's spring in Detroit – a warm weather, a few clouds and 100% chances of marshmallow attacks.
The source? Friday, a helicopter zooming above the green lawn of Worden Park, unloading bags of soft treats of soft treats for hundreds of children who are impatiently awaiting, some tightening colored baskets or carrying rabbit ears.
The children applauded and pointed out of the helicopter slammed on the way to the fall area. The volunteers in yellow vests have made the children rush and do not start to seize marshmallows after the end of the deluge.
For anyone worried about hygiene, don't worry. THE Great Great Marshmallow Drop It is not to eat marshmallows – children could exchange them for a price bag that included a watercolor and a kite.
The drop in the marshmallow has been held for more than three decades in the suburbs of Detroit de Royal Oak, Michigan, organized by the County of Oakland parks.
A toddler, Georgia Mason, had no difficulty obtaining a marshmallow at his first drop, said his father Matt.
“The most exciting part was probably to see the helicopters. But once we saw the marshmallows fall, we are really excited,” said Matt Mason.
“And, yes, we joined the fray,” he said, “we managed to get a fairly easy.”
The organizers said that 15,000 marshm have been abandoned in all.
The helicopter made four assists, dropping marshmallows for children in three age categories: 4 and under, 5-7 years old, and 8 to 12 years old. A decrease for children of all ages with disabilities came later in the day.
“We do it because it is great for community commitment,” said the supervisor of the Oakland County leisure program, Melissa Nawrocki.
“Children love it,” she continued. “The eyes of their faces as they pick up their marshmallow and turn into the marshmallow for prices is great.”
