Los Angeles (AP) – Jesse Chavez and the Braves of Atlanta never seem to separate for a long time.
The team bought the 41-year-old right-hander contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, bringing him back for his fifth passage with the brave since 2021 and sixth in the general classification.
He joined the team for the first time in December 2009 in a business with Tampa Bay against the Rafael Soriano lift. In 2021, Chavez signed a minor league agreement with Atlanta and then joined the staff of the Braves, helping them to win the World Series.
Chavez presented nine teams during his long career, including several relays with Toronto, Los Angeles Angels, Texas and Chicago Cubs.
“We need as many positives as possible at the moment, and Jesse certainly brings this,” said Braves manager Brian Snitker. “He's part of the family, and it's always good when you see Jesse this door.”
Chavez returned the same day that the Braves without victory learned that the Voltigeur Jurickson Profar was suspended for 80 games by the Major Baseball League after having tested positive for a drug improving performance.
Chavez abandoned one point and two strokes in two rounds of relief during the 6-1 defeat of Atlanta on Monday evening against the undefeated dodgers of Los Angeles. He withdrew one, walked two and allowed a home run to Kiké Hernández in the sixth when the brave fell at 0-5 for the first time since the start of 0-9 in 2016.
Chavez entered a 2.53 MPM in 158 appearances for Atlanta since 2021.
Also on Monday, the brave designated the right -hander Héctor Neris for assignment.
