The European People's Party, which has more than a dozen heads of state and government of the Council, arrived first in the European elections from last year. Gathered in Valence this week, the party celebrated its new strength after the last electoral victories, especially in Germany. Delegates to the EPP congress hope that the new German Chancellor will take care of European conservatives and the future of the EU. After an early election in February, his party became the strongest political force again, before the far -right AFD party.
The electoral result has left two options to Merz: a coalition with AFD or with the Social Democrats.
