Branden Jacobs-Jenkins play Aim won the Pulitzer Prize for the drama on Monday.
The play, which follows a powerful family of black American politics recovering from the scandal, currently works on Broadway With Latanya Richardson JacksonKara Young, Harry Lennix, Jon Michael Hill, Glenn Davis and Alana Arenas. Phylicia Rashad directs the production, which came to Broadway in a Steppenwolf theater in Chicago in March 2024.
Oh, Mary! Written by Cole Escolawhich is also currently taking place on Broadway and Escola stars, has been appointed finalist, just like The ally, Written by Itamar Moses, which was presented in the first Off-Broadway in February 2024. Aim And Oh, Mary! are The two nominees For Tony Awards For the best game.
This is Pulitzer's first victory for Jacobs-Jenkins, who has already been appointed finalist for his 2017 play Everyone. His previous parts included AppropriateWho won the Tony Award 2024 for the best renewal of a play and saw Sarah Paulson win a Tony for her role.
Aim Follows the Jasper familyof which Patriarch Solomon was a well -known leader in the civil rights movement, but has since retired. The eldest son of the Solomon Jr. family recently released from prison for embezzlement as a state senator, and his wife will soon have to serve his own passage. The family, who includes the youngest son, Nazareth, who is a shy photographer and is the narrator of the play, and his friend, Aziza, come together for a birthday celebration for the family matriarch. However, all the parties are soon asshole as Solomon secrets turn against family members and as secrets of his past are revealed.
Aim Open to Hayes Theater March 17 and should currently take place until July 6.
