After the last bell, the two fighters shared emotional words, Billam-Smith seeking to take stock after the controversy of the week.
“I just told him that we can't say things like that,” he said.
“There were thousands of children who looked at the preparation and it is one of the biggest shows in recent years.
“I just said that we have to show what sport should be, if we are given a platform of this size, then we must be better role models-the round trips are good, but do not exceed the line.
“In a sport where we give everything and we risk our lives, you don't need to be like that, we have to show a certain decency and humility. He apologized.”
It was Billam-Smith's first victory since Defeat in Saudi Arabia When he lost against Gilberto Ramirez in a WBO and WBA unification fight.
He says he always has ambitions of return to the world.
Aside from Ramirez, the other champions are Australian Jai Opetaia, with the IBF belt, and the Swedish boxer Badou Jack, which holds the WBC title.
“There are opportunities around it. I should wait a bit, I feel,” added Billam-Smith.
“I think Zurdo Ramirez and I Opetaia are in talks to fight. If these two are fighting, the WBC route would most likely be for me, but we will see.
“For the moment, it is a question of family, to rest a little of boxing and to stay in shape, then we will see where we are going.”
