Blue Origin's new reusable rocket was successfully launched and reached orbit, although engineers have failed to land the Rocket Booster from first stage on earth safely as hoped for. Nevertheless, the company's first launch to Orbit is a sign that the space company of Jeff Bezos is capable of contesting the current domination of SpaceX of Elon Musk in the launch sector of Espace Privé.
“I am incredibly proud of New Glenn made in orbit during his first attempt,” said Dave Limp, CEO of Blue Origin, in a declaration.
New Glenn, which is around the height of a 30 -story building, took off from the Space Force Cape Canaveral station in Florida around 2 a.m. local time (7 a.m.). The rocket had experienced many delays and backhands, and a previous launch was abandoned when unwanted ice was formed in some of the rocket engine pipes.
About 13 minutes after takeoff, the second stage of the rocket reached Orbit, which was a goal for Blue Origin since the foundation of the company over 20 years ago. He transported a test charge of test called Blue Ring Pathfinder, which is a collection of communication devices, power systems and a flight computer.
Another objective of this mission was to win its rocket booster on a floating landing platform in the Atlantic Ocean so that it can be reused for future missions, which reduces global costs. However, the engineers stopped receiving booster data shortly after takeoff. “We knew that landing our booster … During the first try was an ambitious goal. We will learn a lot from today and will try again at our next launch this spring,” said Limp.
