In Wilbourne Farm in Virginia, a carbon moving experience is underway. A tractor first spray almost 20 tonnes of gray crushed basalt on a field. Then, the farmer makes several additional passes distributed other materials in different combinations: dust of white-white limestone, the rich compost of black biochar and chicken litter that starts with ammonia. Each of these materials can increase crop yields and the quantity of carbon stored in the soil. And Wilbourne Farm will help reveal whether these different ways to eliminate carbon from the atmosphere can be even more effective in combination.
