Israeli strikes through the Gaza Strip killed at least 50 Palestinians, including many women and children, on Thursday, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health managed by Hamas.
Strikes targeted residential areas, including buildings, travel sites and makeshift tents, as well as a police station, among other places.
A strike in the north of Gaza killed at least 18 people and another killed 11, including at least one child, according to Palestinian health officials. The Israeli army said that the police station was aimed at a militant command center.
At least seven people were killed, including a mother and two children, and two other children, in three strikes in the southern city of Khan Younis. The strikes in the Gaza center killed six people, including two women and two children.
Israel ended its ceasefire with Hamas and renewed its air and land war on March 18. He sealed the 2 million Gaza Palestinians of all foods and other imports since early March to put Hamas pressure to release hostages, two of which are still considered alive.
The United Nations Humanitarian Office OCHA called on the world leaders to exert more pressure on Israel to allow the flow of humanitarian aid and other crucial supplies to enter the enclave.
In an article on X, formerly Twitter, Ocha said that Palestinians are “deprived of the necessities to survive” because it highlighted the urgency of the situation, noting that humanitarian aid operations are on the brink of total collapse, with drugs and foods that are seriously low.
Israel says that its Gaza blocking is to prevent Hamas from acquiring more supplies to strengthen and regroup, because it regularly accuses the pillaging aid group for civilians. Israel also said that this decision was aimed at putting Hamas in a release of hostages, a group of tactical rights criticized war crime and a form of collective punishment.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army threatened Thursday to extend operations in the strip. “If we do not see progress in the return of hostages, we will expand our activity in a more intense and more important operation,” said Eyal Zamir, head of Israeli military staff.
The declaration of the military chief of staff on Thursday said that Hamas was “responsible for the outbreak of this war” and for the “disastrous situation of the population in Gaza”.
Hamas said it would only release the remaining 59 captives, of which 24 are considered alive, in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners, a sustainable ceasefire and a complete Israeli withdrawal. Israel has promised to continue to bomb Gaza until Hamas is completely destroyed.
