New York: Theater for a new audience (Tfana) announced that Arin Arbus Will succeed the founding artistic director Jeffrey HorowitzAs of August 31. Arbus served TFANA for more than a decade as first associate artistic director of the theater, an article she occupied until 2017. Horowitz invited her to say for the first time to Shakespeare, and in a press release Arbus said that he considers that he was the “greatest honor” of his career to advance his “remarkable inheritance in Tfana, an institution that was my artistic house years.”.
Arbus continues in a press release: “I am deeply inspired by the heart of the mission of TFANA. We produce Shakespeare today because his language and his ideas shed light on the urgent questions of our time. And by presenting his pieces and other canonical texts alongside today, we are committed to a civic dialogue.
“Arin comes to the heart of what plays are and why the theater is essential,” Horowitz said about Arbus in a press release. “It pushes the limits and is deeply dissatisfied with satisfactory. The artists want to work with Arin. She is a wise and brilliant person with a gift of humor. The actors of his productions express the language and ideas of the authors naturally and spontaneously. TFANA is in the midst of national research led by Arts Consulting Group for a new executive director who will work in partnership with Arbus.
Founded in 1979 by Je ff rey Horowitz, and led by Horowitz and the Director General Dorothy Ryan, Theater for a new audience is a New York house for Shakespeare and other contemporary playwrights. In 2023, its budget was $ 7.1 million.
