Amanda Knox says that Monica Lewinsky is like her "big sister"

Amanda Knox found comfort in “the fraternity of bad reputation”.

Speaking at the Ronald Tutor Campus Center at the University of Southern California at a crowd of more than 200 people in Times Books Festival On Saturday, Knox was candid to connect with other women who, she said, were publicly vilified.

Monica Lewinsky was the first in this group she met, and she said that their relationship had been significant.

“She showed me that there was a way to follow to find a feeling of paternity on your own life,” Knox told the event moderator, Amy Kaufman du Times.

In 2007, when he studied abroad in Italy, Knox was wrongly sentenced for murdering his roommate, Meredith Kercher, and spent almost four years in prison before she was ultimately exempt.

Knox described Lewinsky's meeting as they both spoke to the same event years ago. It was the first time that Knox shared her story in front of a crowd and she asked to meet Lewinsky, whose writing and public speaking said that she had “devoured” in preparation. “I felt very seen and understood by this person, even before I met her,” said Knox.

“She looks a lot like a big sister at this stage, and I am so grateful that she is in my life,” she added.

Knox and Lewinsky collaborate as producers Next Hulu series About Knox's experience being wrongly accused and condemned, entitled “Amanda”. The series was created by KJ Steinberg and is still in development.

“A source could actually be a huge richness of creativity, and may have to have a kind of word to say in the way their story is told,” she said.
