Lydia McLaughlin of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” cries the loss of her brother Geoff Stirling after the 45 -year -old police was killed Thursday by Newport Beach police.
“My family suffered an unimaginable loss. My brother, Geoff, was tragically taken and our hearts are broken,” wrote McLaughlin on Instagram on Sunday.
Stirling, a resident of Laguna Niguel, was withdrawn Thursday evening for a traffic offense on his motorcycle, the Newport Beach police announced in a press release.
“Shortly after being arrested, Stirling became little cooperative and assaulted the officer. During the violent altercation that followed, Stirling managed to withdraw the taser issued by the agent's belt department and tried to deploy him several times against the officer,” said the ministry. “At this point, a shooting involving an officer has occurred.”
The agents provided medical assistance on site, said the press release. Stirling was declared dead after being taken to HOAG hospital by the newport Beach fire service.
“I cannot believe that we are confronted with this pain only 6 months after losing my best friend and mother,” wrote McLaughlin, referring to mom Judy Stirling, who died last October after a private battle against breast cancer. “I know they are both with Jesus now, and he walks with me in this darkness. A resident who refused to be identified due to confidentiality problems said daily Friday, she was in her room on the second floor nearby when she heard what looked like shots.
