Ukrainian activist and volunteer Serhii Sternnenko was injured in an attack, called an assassination attempt by the Ukrainian security service.
In an article on Telegram, Sternenko said: “I was attacked. I was injured.” He added that his life was not in danger and that the alleged striker had been detained.
“I am grateful to SBU (Ukraine security service) for their quick response. Otherwise for them, I could no longer write anything. They literally saved my life,” he said.
According to the SBU, Sterneko's attack involved a firearm.
“Operational and investigation shares are underway. We will inform you separately from the progress of the situation,” said the SBU in a statement, sharing a photo of the suspect who was arrested.
Vocal critic of Russia and its large -scale invasion, Sterneko is one of the most famous Ukrainian activists and volunteers, known for its crowdfunding campaigns to help the military.
Since the start of the Russia War against Ukraine, he has collected funds to help provide more than 550 military units.
Having played a key role in the popularization of first -person drones (FPV). In January, he launched the Sterneko Community Foundation.
According to its reports, the Foundation collected funds to provide equipment to the front line, including the purchase of more than 176,000 FPV drones in May.
Sterneko has gained popularity via his social networks like Youtube, where he has more than 2 million subscribers, and Telegram, where he is followed by 840,000 people.
A active participant in the 2014 Dignity Revolution in Ukraine, also known as Maidan Revolution, he was attacked several times. In 2018, Sterneko inflicted a fatal injury on a self -defense attacker, according to his lawyer.
In December 2023, an Odesa court brought a case against Sterneko for the death of the man who attacked him.
