In 1893, the Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen left Norway on a mission to derive through the North Pole. Its ship, the FRAM, had been specially designed with a rounded shell so that it is seated at the top of the Arctic ice, slowly transporting its crew on the Arctic.
