Vietnam, Russia agrees to quickly sign the agreement on the nuclear power plant

Hanoi: Vietnam and Russia have agreed to negotiate quickly and sign agreements on the construction of nuclear power plants in Vietnam, the two countries said in a joint statement on Sunday, May 11.

“The development of cutting-edge technology factories will be strictly in accordance with nuclear and radiological regulations and for the benefit of socio-economic development,” they said in the press release after a visit to Moscow by the Vietnamese chef in Lam.

The Southeast Asian Nation has restarted plans to develop nuclear power plants that were suspended almost a decade ago, as part of its efforts to accelerate its electricity production capacity to support its rapidly growing economy.

The government previously declared that it expected the first nuclear power plants with a combined capacity of up to 6.4 GW be online between 2030 and 2035.
