More than 333,000 voters registered in Portugal will be able to vote this Sunday in advance for the legislative elections of May 18. This is a registration number since the mobile vote was implemented in Portugal, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Mobile vote allows voters to vote in advance and the polling station that suits them the most, as long as they had marked the place where they wanted to vote when they registered.
In the last elections, in 2024, 208,000 voters voted in advance and abroad, including Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. In fact, the president must vote early on Sunday.
About 10 million voters living in Portugal and abroad are registered to vote during these elections, which were presented after the fall of the minority government of the center-right.
In March, Prime Minister Luís Montenegro had a confidence motion rejected in Parliament following a case involving himself and a company belonging to his family, Spinumviva. The case has raised doubts as to whether civil servants have followed rules on conflicts of interest.
In light of the controversy, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa dissolved the coalition government led by Montenegro.
At a time when the electoral campaign is about to enter its last week, 21 parties appear during these first elections, including coalitions.
According to a survey carried out for Euronews, the AD (PSD / CDS) coalition of Luís Montenegro is in the lead with 34.1% of the voting intentions. The Socialist Party, led by Pedro Nuno Santos, would have 27.1%, and the far -right populist party Chega would retain its most popular third party position with 15.2%. The liberal initiative would have 8.3%.
These figures refer to a consulmark2 survey to Nascer do Sol and Euronews, made between April 14 and 22.
