Rawalpindi: The Pakistani army on Saturday May 10 said that three of its air bases had been attacked by Indian missiles, including one on the outskirts of the Islamabad capital near the army seat.
“India, with its bare assault, attacked with missiles. Nur Khan Base, Murid Base and Shorkot Base have been targeted,” said military spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry in a live program broadcast by state television.
“Now you are waiting for our response,” he warned India.
The Nur Khan air base in Rawalpindi, where the army has its registered office, is approximately 10 km from the capital Islamabad.
Earlier, an army spokesperson said that India had fired ballistic missiles that fell on Indian territory, announcing it in a sudden statement on the national broadcaster at 1:50 am local time (8:50 p.m. GMT) on Saturday, without any details provided to support the complaint.
“I want to give you the shocking news that India has drawn six ballistic missiles from Adampur. One of the ballistic missiles struck Adampur, the rest of the five missiles struck in the Indian area of Punjab of Amritsar,” said the army spokesman in his short video press release.
The Amritsar District Commissioner in an SMS between Friday and Saturday said: “Do not panic. Siren rings because we are on a red alert. Do not panic, as before, keep the lights, get away from the windows. We will inform you when you are ready to resume the power supply.”
India has not commented on these statements.
