Do not expect to see the best British actor Stewart Lee occur in the United States to soon, because of his fear that his past gags can be used against him in the middle of the targeting of dissidents by Trump's white house.
“I would not work in the United States right now,” Lee on Channel 4 News Krishnan Guru-Murty told a long interview published this week.
“I would worry about them by crossing them my jokes and ending up spending two days locked up without my heart medication,” he said, adding: “I'm just worrying about it.”
The admission came after Lee revealed that he had recently refused an offer to play his new show, entitled “Stewart Lee against The Man-Wulf”, for a week in a place in Chicago.
“This is not something that I would do normally anyway,” he recognized, before I joke light: “For the moment, I should take a huge set of American urban landscapes and two large wolf costumes. I should make them pass for American customs right now … “
Guru-Murty had previously asked Lee if he really believed his recent characterization of what is going on in America at the moment under Trump as a fascism.
“Oh yeah, I call it what it is. Absolutely,” replied Lee. “People take place around this idea. People are wrongly deported to the United States to an El Salvador prison without regular procedure. What is this?”
“Trump makes agreements for resources with dictators,” he added. “This is absolutely that, and we must call it like this, and we must act in the way that we should have done faster in the 1930s”.
