Actor Michael Pitt, known for “Boardwalk Empire” and “Dawson's Creek”, faces criminal charges for having allegedly abused, assaulting and stifling his ex-girlfriend, according to a great indictment from the jury recently filed in New York.
Pitt was arrested on Friday in Brooklyn as part of the indictment, confirmed the Times. The 44 -year -old actor was charged with nine criminal charges, including two first degree sexual leaders, two second degree assault chiefs and a second degree foreign chief. His arrest and the indictment arise from a series of alleged incidents occurred from April 2020 to August 2021. The actor pleaded not guilty to the accusations on Friday and filed a deposit of $ 100,000. He should return to the Brooklyn court on June 17.
Pitt's lawyer Jason Goldman denied allegations against his client in a press release shared with Times. “Unfortunately, we live in a world where someone like Mr. Pitt – an accomplished professional who would not contemplate these crimes – can be arrested on the non -corroborated speech of an unreliable individual,” said Goldman.
“In reality, this baseless complaint raised an increase of four or five years after the alleged incident, from a time when the two parties were in a completely consensual relationship,” added the press release. “We have already discovered exempt evidence and this case will be rejected.”
PitT was also charged with two charges for criminal sexual acts and two chiefs of assault attempt.
The nine chiefs come from four alleged incidents, according to the indictment. The first incident occurred in April 2020, when Pitt would have forcibly touched the complainant's genitals. Months later in August 2020, Pitt would have forced oral sex on women, whose identity was exposed in the indictment and attacked it with a wooden board of four per four, according to legal documents.
Less than a year later in June 2021, the actor would have attacked it with a concrete block. He also stifled it in August 2021, the indictment said.
A spokesperson for the Kings County Prosecutor Office did not comment.
Pitt is best known for his representation of Jimmy Darmody at the start of the “Boardwalk Empire” seasons. His television credits also include “Hannibal”, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Animals”. Pitt also appeared in the films “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”, “The Dreamers”, “Hugo” and “Ghost in the Shell”.
