To the editor: Critics against the Disney company of Animatronic Walt Disney seems hard and empty (“He” keeps Walt alive in the medium that he was the pioneer “: Imagineers defends the new Walt Disney robot”, “ May 2). For thousands of years, civilizations have honored people by recreating their similarities – during and after their lives – through drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc. At the start of Walt Disney's career, he used the animation (from the Latin word Amaimā meaning “A Data of Life”) to recreate the resemblances of others, like Rudolph Valentino on the big screen and, towards the end of his career, an animatronic Abraham Lincoln – in part to honor its favorite president.
In this noble tradition, the Disney company does not only honor one of their own, but also honors one of our great Americans.
