Sovereignty propelled the last round and exceeded favorite journalism in the last consecutive line to win Kentucky Derby on Saturday, giving stable Godolphin a first victory for the classic American races at Churchill Downs.

“It means the world for me,” said Alvarado to the dissemination of mud to the broadcasting of the NBC diffuser while he was heading aboard sovereignty towards the circle of the winner.
“I thought I was a great chance,” he said, adding thanks to Mott for putting him back on sovereignty after he was reclaimed from a broken shoulder suffered during a spill in March.
Journalism, the big favorite when he arrived on a sequence of four -shopping victories, finished second and Baeza, who entered the field on Friday after two horses were striped, was a third at a quick finish.
For coach Bill Mott, it was officially a second victory for Kentucky Derby, but it was the first time that he saw his horse hit the thread first.

He trained Country House, who was declared a winner in 2019 after the maximum security was disqualified.
“This one came in the right direction,” said Mott. “It will take a while to sink.”
It was a first victory of Kentucky Derby for the Godolphin of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in their 13th attempt in the race of 1 1/4 mile for the roses.
And he crowned an impressive world week for Godolphin. Their good humor won the Kentucky Oaks for Fillies in Churchill Downs on Friday and they won the English Guinea 2000 with the court in power on Saturday.
“This is a race that we always wanted to try to win,” said Michael Banahan, director of Bloodstock at Godolphin USA, accepting the trophy and admiring the view of the twin arrows of Churchill Downs of the Circle of the winner for the first time. “It's a great feeling.”

Coach Bob Baffet, who shares the record with six Kentucky Derby winners, was under the spotlight when he returned to the race after a three -year ban after his medina spirit was withdrawn from the victory in 2021 after failing a drug screening test after the race.
Citizen Bull de Buffete separated from the first post and quickly got out of the rail while he was heading for the early head.
Sovereignty, sent to 7-1 in the $ 5 million race, was back to half a thousand but moving while they were turning to the house.
While the citizen Bull was, the Umberto Rispoli jockey brought journalism inside.
– Wonderful horse race –
Alvarado had to make his way in front of a piece of gold and then had sovereignty in his towers. They were shoulder to shoulder in the straight line before the last wave of sovereignty transported it to a 1/2 1/2 victory.

“It was a wonderful horse race,” said Banahan. “You have the two best horses, one on the east coast, one from the west coast, locking there, not one of them giving an inch and until the thread before taking over the journalism.
“So it's a fantastic race.”
From now on, the sovereignty connections will decide whether the colt will be pointed at the Preakness Stakes, the second jewel of the triple crown of Flat Racing on May 17.
The triple ends with the Belmont Stakes on June 7. This race will not take place in Belmont Park, which is being renovated, but at the Saratoga race race in New York State.

“We will see how he gets out of the race,” said Banahan. “We will see what the Trainer Trainer wants to do with him, but if it is good to come out, it would be the logical place to go.
“We would like to try to go back and win the Preakness.”
