On Monday, the Israeli military bulldozers demolished an important part of a Palestinian Bedouin village in the West Bank occupied by Israeli, destroying the infrastructure of the community and leaving residents navigating through the debris of their houses.
The demolition occurred in Khalet al-Dab during the morning hours, as Basel Adra, filmmaker, journalist and local activist reported. According to Mohammed Rabia, the chief of the village council, nine houses, five tents and five animal enclosures were destroyed.
The coordinator of government activities in the territories (COGAT), the Israeli military organization responsible for supervising administrative questions in occupied West Bank, announced the demolition of structures illegally built in a region classified as a restricted shooting area.
The Palestinians have always claimed that obtaining Israeli authorization for the construction in the West Bank is practically inaccessible.
Ali Dababsa, an 87 -year -old shepherd, was in shock when he witnessed the destruction of his house. “We want to die under this soil, this land is precious for us and we are the owners of this land,” he said, while he and other villagers have gathered on a hill.
The demolitions occurred in Masafer Yatta, a region in the West Bank where the extremist Israeli settlers are expanding their outpost network.
The Palestinians say that the settlers act with the implicit approval of the Israeli government, which leads demolitions at home and rarely holds colonists responsible for acts of violence against the Palestinians.
“Since October 7, the Israeli army with the colonists has established three illegal outposts around this community and now erasing this village to create more and more Israeli colonies in the region,” said Adra, co-director of the omnipresent film “without other land” which addresses the expulsion of the Palestinians and the violence omniprese by colleagues.
The demolition coincides with the plans of the Israeli forces to shave more than 100 houses in two refugee camps in the North located in the West Bank.
