The agreement, signed Monday at the Historical Gasometer of Berlin, brings together the Christian Democratic Union, his Bavarian sister party the CSU and the Social Democrats. The three parties had previously approved the 144 -page agreement.
Speaking during the signature ceremony, Merz said that Germany needed a government ready to work “powerfully and systematically from the first day”.
The new coalition has a thin majority in the Bundestag, with 328 of the 630 seats. He is committed to prioritizing economic growth, increasing defense spending, modernizing infrastructure and adopting a firmer position on migration.
