GE2025: PM Anwar in Malaysia congratulates the Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong for the electoral victory

Singapore: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday May 4, congratulated his counterpart from Singapore Lawrence Wong for his electoral victoryThe United States has made Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

“The warmest congratulations to Prime Minister Lawrence Wong for having led the Popular Action Party (PAP) to victory in the general elections of Singapore,” Anwar said in an article on Facebook, while saluting the “lasting ties” between the two countries.

PAP returned to government in a superb victory, winning 87 out of 97 seats – almost 90% of the seats – and release the challenges of the Opposition Workers' Party (WP) without conceding any new field to its rivals.

The Malaysian chief also wanted Mr. Wong and his team “to succeed by advancing the responsibilities of leadership in this new term”.

Mr. Anwar noted that “prosperity and security” of Malaysia and Singapore was indivisible.

He said: “We are linked not only by geography, but by hardening bonds of Kith and Kin. While we look to the future, our two countries constitute a habit of deep collaboration at all levels – a vital basis while we sail on deep challenges for world order and international trade.”

He added that the two countries have the possibility of making the special economic area Johor – Singapore a “brilliant example” of what neighboring countries can reach “with conviction and shared objective”.

“We can't wait to deepen this special relationship in the years to come,” he said.

Mr. Prabowo said on Sunday that Mr. Wong's decisive victory reflected “confidence, stability and confidence” of the Singaporeans in his “Strong Leadership” of the PAP.

“My sincere congratulations to the Honorable (Lawrence Wong) for the victory of the People's Action Party (PAP) of Singapore,” he wrote on X.

“I believe that the new government will continue its success to lead Singapore.”

Mr. Prabowo also said that he was looking forward to continuing and strengthening the Indonesian partnership with Singapore under the direction of Mr. Wong.
