It is a reliable constant in the history of cinema: the good actors have always been ready to board the lower quality projects if they involve spending time in a beautiful place. Do not denigrate the cast of Another simple favor – But Capri is a nice break, even when it is photographed as evil as it is here.
This is Paul Feig's sequel to his 2018 comedy thriller of his 2018 comedy thriller A simple favorIn which the naive and tireless suburban suburb of Anna Kendrick crumbs with a new glamorous and extremely dangerous friend, played by Blake Lively. This ingeniously tangled film worked so well because it went in the human suburbs, but offered us and her heroine a window of image on a dazzling world of excess, perversity and crime.
Here, the frame is different – sun, sudden death and lick from White lotus luxury. Now operating as an intrepid crime vlogger, Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) reluctantly agrees to be a bridesmaid at the wedding of Slinkly Amily (Lively) – newly released from prison, and about to marry a very well connected Italian. Barely Stephanie shone that she arrived at a crowd wedding than the bodies are starting to fall, the twists are turning.
One of the writers is Jessica Sharzer, of the original, but here the spice is radically watered down in an insipidly switcheroos, a sour one-liners and dark Italian stereotypes, which in any case may not make sense if you have not seen the first film. Some actors come back, notably Henry Golding, who gives here the most lively value, while the film manages unforgivable to waste Allison Janney and Elizabeth Perkins. Kendrick and Lively presented an honorable show, but cannot hide a certain fatigue to wear a story that barely exceeds a creaky Scooby-doo level.
