Pakistan said it had “credible information” that India is planning an imminent military action against it, a week after tensions between nuclear weapons neighbors intensified as a result of a deadly cashmere attack.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Minister of Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar, said that the information has shown that India could launch an attack over the next 24 to 36 hours.

Any “military adventurism of India would certainly be answered decisively,” said Tarar.

India has accused Pakistan of supporting the attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, a city of cashmere under Indian control, which Islamabad is derived firmly.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra amended to prosecute the attackers “to the ends of the earth”.

Meanwhile, his party, the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) party, said on Wednesday that India would show “zero tolerance for terrorism”.

“Modi gave the Indian forces a hand to respond decisively after the brutal terrorist attack of Pahalgam,” he added.

In the aftermath of the attack, New Delhi suspended a crucial water sharing agreement, a move that Islamabad called “illegal”. He also told all Pakistanis to leave his territory.

India and Pakistan have closed their airspace to planes belonging to the other country.

Tensions between the neighbors have been at their highest level since 2019, when India has made military strikes in Pakistan following an insurgent attack on cashmere administered by India.

The cashmere has been a flash point for the two countries for decades, both of which administer a part, but the two affirm entirely.

In separate calls with India and Pakistan, the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres urged them to “avoid a confrontation that could cause tragic consequences”.
