The administration of the president of Washington (Reuters) -US, the administration of President Donald Trump, has so far retained at least $ 436.87 billion in funding approved by the Congress, said the main democrats of the appropriation committees of the US Congress on Tuesday.
The frozen attributions extend to the federal government, according to the first estimate of the potential reminders of the project led by Senator Patty Murray of Washington and the representative Rosa Delauro of Connecticut.
Nearly $ 42 billion have been frozen or canceled for the State Department, including the frozen support for USAID, as well as additional $ 62 billion in the financing of competitive subsidies for the transport service, according to the estimate.
Democrats also detailed $ 943 million frozen dollars for the Head Start Early Education program and more than $ 10 billion in frozen and canceled funding for the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
“Only 100 days after the start, President Trump and Elon Musk continue their unprecedented assault against the spending laws of our country, and it is families, small businesses and communities in all parts of the country that pay the price,” said Murray and Delauro in a statement.
“No American president has never flagrantly ignored the spending laws of our nation or so cheeky, the investments of the American people who are due to them.”
The White House and Musc did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
These results will be publicly displayed in a tracker counting the minimum that the committees think that the administration freezes or fights in court to block, said a committee assistant.
The Administration cited the Department of Effectiveness of the Musk government and the loss of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives of the federal government as reasons to block the funding approved by the Congress.
The administration's refusal to spend funds authorized to the congress consists of a challenge to the American Constitution, which gives the Congress surveillance of expenses, the legislators said.
Trump challenged this idea on the campaign track, as well as the current head office of management and budget, Russ Vought. The United States Supreme Court has also reaffirmed the limits of the presidents of presidents to unilaterally reduce expenses.
The 1974 Congress of the 1974 Metronation Control Codified a legal process for the executive power to modify the expenditure levels by proposing reductions, called riscise, which could be approved with a simple majority vote.
On Monday, the administration did not submit any request for termination in the congress to codify, despite the repeated requests for many republican legislators in the congress.
