Seoul: the former president of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, said on Friday April 25 that prosecutors became political and abused their power and that His indictment on accusations of corruption was a good example.
The South Korean prosecutors charged the Moon for an alleged corruption on Thursday, making him the last former head of the country to face legal problems in a case linked to the employment of his then son-in-law in a Thai airline between 2018 and 2020.
Moon said the indictment against him was unfair and accused prosecutors of having prosecuted the case in a predetermined direction.
“Beyond the revelation of my personal innocence, I plan to focus on the discovery and information correctly from the public on the abuse and the politicization of the power of the accusation,” he said at a meeting with the president of the National Assembly, Woo Won-Sik.
The prosecutors had investigated to find out if the appointment of the former Lee Sang-Jik legislator as head of the SME agency and startups was in exchange for the former Moon son-in-law to obtain a job and receive a salary and livelihoods in the Thai company which controlled Lee, the District Producers Office of Jeonju declared in a declaration.
Lee was charged with corruption and violation of confidence in the case, according to the press release.
In a statement, Moon's lawyers denied the accusations and said what his ex-age had received was salaries for his work.
They also accused prosecutors of having politically targeted Moon before a Snap presidential election officially scheduled for June 3 after IMPEACHMENT AND REPING OF Office of President Yoon Suk Yeol on his Short -term martial law declaration
