Seven years ago, after visiting Los Angeles almost every summer to spend time with parents and friends, I took the plunge and I finally moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles two weeks later, I entered my first car accident. A driver slammed at the back of my car while I was on a peak fire during rush hours. When I said to my colleagues, they made sure that I was going well (I was, fortunately), then I said, nonchalantly, “Welcome to the, you are a room now.”
Of course, I did not feel like a real premises before years later, when I had solidified my community of the – my group of friends, my favorite neighborhoods and my beloved local spots.
But I always wonder: what makes someone a room at the?
Is it when you can do routes to a tourist without needing to check your GPS? Or when your favorite suppliers of your local producer market automatically know your name and your order? Is it when a soft earthquake does not make you start? What would you say when you realize that you have tried at least 75% of time tacos' 101 best tacos list? Is it when you resonate strongly with the lyrics of Kendrick Lamar in his song “Dodger Blue” (“don't say that you hate it when you are not traveling after the 10th”)?
