To the editor: The editor Ryan Faughnder does not even mention the real reasons why so many people choose to watch a film at home on their television rather than going to a theater (“The Box-Office 2025 is terrible. The supply or demand for the problem?»March 25).
First of all, the need to arrive early enough to select a decent seat. With so small theaters now, there is only one handful of acceptable seats. Second, the 20 minutes or more of the ads and strong trailers of uninteresting films are unpleasant to cross. Third, too many coarse customers who do not think of speaking out loud. Their phones ring and they answer and speak – or they send text, creating disturbing and distracting lights. It's much more pleasant to stay at home, where popcorn and drinks are much cheaper!

To the editor: My neighborhood cinema has a marquee that no longer shows what plays or time. As I get home, I am too busy looking for the theater and its schedule.

To the editor: Theaters must start again to publish their projections of films in the Times because, as the saying says, “out of sight is out of mind.” This is particularly true for us, retired people who always read the paper newspaper and who have time to go to the movies during the week.
My presence in the cinema fell to almost nothing. Maybe they can no longer budget the advertisements on full page, but they can surely spring for an eighth page ads on weekends. As another saying, “you have to spend money to make money.”
