Trump says that the cease-fire talks between Russia and Ukraine “come to the head” but insists that none of the parties “play” it in his efforts to end the war of more than three years.
The comments came after the American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, warned earlier that the United States could “pass” by trying to conclude a peace agreement in Russia-Ukraine if there is no progress in the coming days, after months of effort has failed to end the fighting.
“Marco is right to say that we get – we want to see him end. Think about it, every day, many people are killed as we are talking about it, you know, playing games,” said Trump.
The 47th American president stressed that he was in the interest of both parties – Russia and Ukraine – to cooperate with the efforts of his administration before it was too late and Washington pivots other questions.
“If for any reason, one of the two parties makes things very difficult, we are just going to say that you are stupid, you are fools, you are horrible people, and we will simply take a pass. But I hope that we will not have to do it,” added Trump.
The journalists who attended the Briefing at the White House interviewed Trump on his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who for some time, was accused by Ukraine of being the only one to stall negotiations and not to want to want peace.
“I hope not. I'll let you know soon, if it is, but I hope not,” said Trump.
Trump refused to get used to Washington definitively completely away if none of the parties is ready to make concessions to conclude an agreement. Responding to journalists at the Oval Office, Trump shared “Well, I don't want to say that, but we want to see him end. We want it to end, yes.”
The American president says that Washington is likely to be able to succeed in his efforts to negotiate an agreement to end the “grinding war”, while insisting that he is not played out. The war began in February 2022 after Russia launched a large -scale invasion of Ukraine.

Trump was also invited to know if Washington will continue to support Ukraine militarily and financially in the event that an agreement to end the war cannot be concluded. The American president refused to develop future plans or contingencies, rather choosing to remain positive.
“Well, I'm not going to say that. Because I think we're going to do it,” said Trump.
