Thursday, a shooter open fire On the Florida State University campus, killing two people and injuring six others.

The authorities have identified the suspect as being Phoenix Ikner, 20, a probable student at the FSU and the son of an assistant in the department of local sheriff. He was placed in police custody after being killed by the police, officials said.
While speaking with journalists from the oval office, Donald Trump made his first public comments on the shooting. “It's a shame. A horrible thing. A horrible thing. Things like this happen. And we will have to say later,” said Trump in a viral clip circulating on social networks.
When he is later pressed by journalists to find out if another mass shooting could cause changes to the legislation on firearms, Trump doubled on his defense of the second amendment.

“I am a great defender of the second amendment,” he said. “These things are terrible, but the weapon does not shoot – people do it. It is, you know, a sentence that is probably too often. I will tell you that it is a shame.”
“Regarding legislation, it has been going on for a long time,” he said. “I have the obligation to protect the second amendment. I ran on the second amendment.”
Following the tragedy, many on social networks criticized Trump's response.

“I went from thoughts and prayers to simply say that I don't care. Absolutely disgusting,” said David Hogg, a survivor of Parkland and the current DNC vice-president.
“Weird how he was not so relaxed to get shot,” wrote another.
“Trump reacts to a campus shot as if it was a rainy delay during a golf tournament,” added someone else.
“He said more about Tesla dealers,” said another article.
“Thank goodness, they only pulled a bunch of college students and no teslas was injured,” said this person.
“” Sorry for the dead, but I like weapons. “Their ashes are not even cold.
“” Things like this take place “is a punch for the families of the victims,” said another, citing NPR data showing that the United States had a 4.31 for 100,000 people mortality rate in 2021. “Leadership requires action, not apathy. Shameful,” they said.

And finally, this person summed up an important truth: “Only the country on the planet that has this problem.”
