What is $ 2.2 billion buy you in what remains of Hollywood? An answer comes with SinnersThe new fireworks of a film by Ryan Coogler. The last two he made were Marvel blockbusters Black panther And Black Panther: Wakanda foreverwhich between them reported this serious number. This has now enabled the director a great creative bet: a vintage gangster / vampire film with musical frills and heavy messages, located in the United States south of 1932.

To coogulate, the film sees the heritage of Marvel that is both upset, and not so much. Smoke and battery can be gangsters, but the characters we meet here are also smooth, magnetic and definitively founded: super anti Heroes. For all the music in the air, no character receives more from a note.
More exciting, however, the film is delivered with a billion dollars in certain large cinematographic oscillations. The sense of the scale has less to do with the show than the great ambitious narration. The genres collide while the fangs find cous. Jim Crow Mississippi is filled with Klan dresses and cotton fields, but is also only part of an exhilarating fable in the past and the future.
The modern public will have much more overflowing, often in the form of firearms and oral sex. That the film is made to be seen with a crowd corresponds to a story on noisy nightlife. However, a bite in the tail awaits. His script also suggests that success has left the coogler annoyed by the American entertainment industry, with a political subtext, the expression of which can raise eyebrows – and questions. But then the film rings the volume. In the middle of the audacity, it looks like a loss of nerve.
