For many, the world of Charli XCX consists of green collaborations and hard drugs. But Coachella's performance from British pop star reminds us, it is much more.
Before she goes on stage, the murmurs took over the crowd dressed in green. Could Billie Eilish make an appearance? And Troye Sivan? No, it must be addison rae. In her black outfit, the singer appears on the main stage of Coachella, making the crowd roar. Behind her blackened glasses, she gives the tone, exclaiming: “What is the F—?”
Fortunately, the whispers were correct – XCX sprinkled its performance with predictable experiences. The co-line of Sweat Tour and singer of “Rush”, Troye Sivan, launched the starry program to interpret his remix “Talk Talk”, then came from the alternative Empress Lorde for “Girl, So Confusing” and Billie Eilish finished the Holy Trinity by interpreting “Guess”.
But beyond its A-List associations, XCX delivered a mainly “kid” setlist. She patrolled the scene with an undeniable feeling of confidence – heading towards the barricade and strutting from top to bottom in the long solo cup of red podium. Besides me, people sniff small cocaine cocaine from their acrylic nails. Others throw themselves away and shout all the words.
Charli XCX has been a member of the pop scene for more than a decade. As a singer on “i love it” by Icona Pop and “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea, the singer spent her career at the start of a career making a traditional breakthrough and building a fiercely faithful base of fans. It was only during “Brat”, his fifth studio album, that his poignant lyricism and his experimental sonics began to click with the general population. The release of June has become more than a cartography record, but rather a cultural movement – creating what was invented as “Summer Brat”. Encouraging people to embrace a party lifestyle and unleashed themselves, XCX spent last year at the head of a party renewal.
His latest offer was the Icona Pop 2012 collaboration, “I Love IT”. The memorable and return synths filled the air with Coachella. It was a full moment – like an old XCX video came to my mind. It was the one where she played the same song, in 2014 during a German music festival. The young XCX is frustrated by the silent crowd and shouts: “Do you know the words F -ing?”
Now they do it. In the middle of the dense crowd, you can barely hear XCX's voice on the thunderous voice of the crowd, singing “I don't make / I love it” over and over. The singer generally in the face of stone leaves a smile through. Oh, how things have changed.
She left for a flash but leaves the public with a message. Written on the big screens, she recognizes the end of the kid's summer and questions: “IDK who I am when it is finished.”
He only takes a few seconds to leave us with the recall – “I'm Charli.” But it should not sweat – we will not forget it anytime soon.
